Meet Your Coach

\"Headshot

My name is Shawna Thompson. I am a Certified Executive Coach.

I was raised in rural Alberta on a beautiful farm. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. I did well at school and I was destined to have it \”all\”. But then I didn\’t. I let my life eat my ambition. I was scared to go to post-secondary and live the big life I had dreamed of. And then one day, after years and years of living small, I took a deep breath and jumped off a tall cliff in order to embrace those big plans from my youth.

The catalyst: My mom died. I was a full-time mom with a house full of children. And in the aftermath of her death, I learned so much about myself. I discovered that I had skills and knowledge. I could transform those skills into that bigger life that I had dreamed of long ago. I knew that I couldn\’t continue on the path I had been on. It was basically a rut that lead to a dead-end and it didn\’t allow for me to grow or change.

So like so many great examples before me (Beverly Hill Billies, the Jeffersons, Fresh Prince of Bel Air) I moved my family to a larger centre for greater opportunity. I enrolled in university. I graduated with a BA in Professional Communications. I wanted to show my children, especially my daughters how important education is and how we should never limit our potential. Imposter syndrome held me back from doing amazing things for years. I wasn\’t going to let it determine my future any longer.

I have worked in many industries, most male-dominated and I have started/run 3 businesses of my own. One in partnership with my husband. I am a public speaker and have written training programs.

When I discovered coaching I knew it was a way to help others live their own big lives. A way to become the hero of their own stories. Off to school again to gain my Certified Executive Coaching certificate. And here we are today. I love, love, love helping others overcome their imposter syndrome and embrace their best version of themselves.

I focus on listening with empathetic ears. I listen deeply to my clients and then I ask questions. Sometimes the questions are hard/challenging. But oh my darling, that\’s where we grow; in those dark areas where we need someone to direct the light.

The Now

I have worked in the oil and gas, the hospitality sectors, and most recently in the automotive after-market repair and wine industries. I have a background in retail, writing, youth-work, non-profit, and marketing. I have a passion for great customer service.

I currently live in the South Okanagan of British Columbia, with the love of my life, my children, and a couple of large dogs who think they\’re lapdogs (they\’re not). I like to garden, hike, write, craft, and oh man do I read!
